Jocelyn & Dan’s wedding

It’s always nice when couples refer you to their friends. This is what happened with Jocelyn and Dan; they’re friends of two different couples I’ve photographed over the last few years. As soon as I met these guys I knew the they were going to be a ton of fun. Jocelyn has a constant smile on her face and is so encouraging. Dan is always making Jocelyn and everyone else laugh and you can’t help but have good time around him.

Jocelyn and Dan decided to not have a formal wedding party and instead blocked off a section during their wedding day that allowed them to meet their close friends downtown at the King’s Head. This was a really fun and relaxed time – so reflective of their personalities. With this in mind, we started the day off with Jocelyn and all her girl friends getting ready at their house. Dan got ready just down the street at their friends’ house, making it pretty convenient to arrange for them to have their first look. The weather was perfect so they saw each other for the first time in the snow covered field across from their house. What a beautiful moment for a winter wedding!

Afterwards we headed to the Legislative Building where we were able to spend some time shooting both inside and out. In winter the sun is a lot lower in the sky so it was amazing to photograph here with very different lighting conditions from the prime summer months. Love the shots of the them walking down the path with the Legislature in the background. Another one of my favourite shots came with the two of them on the staircase.Then it was off to the King’s Head where we spent some time with both the girls and guys separately for some group shots. The girls braved the brisk weather and did an amazing job not showing how cold they really were. :)

After a few more quick shots downtown we headed over to Niakwa Golf and Country Club for the wedding. This was a beautiful location for both the ceremony and reception. The ceremony had a personal touch since the dad of one of their close friends actually married the couple. Following the ceremony everyone had a chance to raise their glasses in a toast to the new married couple. When the couple had their first kiss Dan gave a big fist pump for all to see. :)

The couple had a number of other vendors that helped make their day possible;
Jocelyn’s dress was from 7th Ave. Bridal salon
Dan’s suit was custom tailored from Eph apparel
Jocelyn’s flowers were stunning and provided by Beyond Flowers
Linens were provided by Planned Perfectly

Thanks for a wonderful day!
