I first met Hillary to discuss her wedding day plans almost a year and half ago while Mike was still serving in Afghanistan. I knew even at that time that their wedding was going to beautiful and a ton of fun… I mean, how can you have a New Years Eve wedding and not have a great time! It wasn’t until this past summer that I actually met Mike for the first time at their engagement session out in the country. I always had a great feeling about this one and Hillary and Mike did not disappoint in any way. :)
I met up with Hillary and the girls at the Fort Garry Hotel at the start of the wedding day. Everyone was so welcoming and it was evident right away that Hillary had a classic old Hollywood style about her and it all looked amazing! Hillary’s dress and hair were gorgeous, but I think their daughter almost stole the show when she got dressed! :) the little flower shop did another stunning job with the flowers and decor for the reception.
Once Hillary was dressed, it was time to do a quick session with the guys at the Millennium Centre. Many of the guys had served overseas so it was a really cool and personal touch for all of them to be wearing their well-deserved medals. Wasn’t long before the girls arrived and it was time to start the ceremony. The Millennium Centre was the perfect backdrop for the look and feel of their wedding! One really cool aspect to the ceremony was that Mike played upright bass with his band during the signing of the registry. He was looking pretty GQ up there! :) After the ceremony we had just enough time to do some family pictures and take the couple upstairs for a very quick session; I knew I had to use the mahogany room as they looked stunning there.
We were then off to the Legislative building where we captured some breathtaking images of them kissing in the trees with the sun shining in on them. I think these were my favourite from the day. The wind started picking up so we took the girls and couple up to a sheltered area to capture a few more shots.
Before we could finish off in the warm confines of the Concert Hall it was off to Waterfront Drive for a few more outdoor shots. Plus the girls had to put their Uggs to good use :) There are so many wonderful areas in the Concert Hall with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and I loved the way this venue also suited Hillary and Mike’s style. Our time was capped off with a champagne toast to the bride and groom.
Everyone got a few minutes to catch their breath before the reception started back at the Fort Garry Hotel. The room was spectacular! The flowers and linens, which were provided by Natalie’s Dream Party Creations, worked so well together and I think all their guest were blown away with how beautiful the room looked. The couple was introduced and went straight into their first dance. It was then time for dinner and speeches; then the party started and didn’t end till after the new year!
Hillary and Mike, thanks for a wonderful time and it truly was an honour to capture your wedding day!
