As a family we love driving down River Road to Lockport. We’ve had quite a few drives down that road that started out with a crying baby in the back and ended with a content and asleep little one instead. It’s a beautiful area and I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding there. Well, Irina and Jan gave me the chance! Although the forecast for the day included some pretty bad weather, we kept our hopes up and in the end we were able to shoot outdoors as much as we had originally planned.
We started Irina and Jan’s wedding day at their house and captured some very cool shots of her dress and shoes; I loved those shoes! Once they were dressed and ready to go we headed over to the Bishops Mansion in St. Boniface, a choice shooting location of Irina’s. Jan was a real character; right from the start he had Irina laughing and it continued on all day. You could tell they love being together and my job was made easy with Irina and Jan’s constant expressions of joy and laughter.
Once we got out to River Road I knew exactly where I wanted to take them. My favorite location from the day was an old homestead from the 1800s. The old wood fence and house were a fantastic and unique backdrop for their wedding day. I loved all the different textures and I really can’t wait to photograph there again. My favorite shots of Irina came there on the front porch of the home.
They had an intimate wedding ceremony that was attended by only their very close family and friends. After the ceremony we did a few more shots along the river and then headed over to Larters Golf and Country Club for the reception.
Thanks for choosing me as your photographer, Irina and Jan. I had a blast capturing your wedding day!
