It’s always so interesting to see how different cultures celebrate a wedding. I’ve been looking forward to Marita and Khai’s big day, especially because of the unique aspects included from each family’s heritage. To start the day off they got dressed-up in traditional Vietnamese wedding attire to take part in their tea ceremony. Look how stunning Marita looked in blue! Afterwards they did a quick change with the bride wearing a traditional Western white dress, which also looked amazing! I admire Khai’s dedication… most grooms I photograph are told which tux or suit to wear and are glad to stick to it for the whole day. However, they had one more quick change for the reception; this time they wore traditional Laotian wedding attire. Every single outfit looked beautiful… and handsome. Sorry Khai!
The ceremony and reception took place in St. Boniface so we decided to stay in and around the downtown area for photos. Marita really wanted some photos with large picture windows at the Millennium Centre so we had to make sure we stopped there for some indoor shots. :) This couple was so photogenic and I loved photographing them; really Marita couldn’t go wrong! Their wedding party looked awesome too. Check out the bridesmaids’ dresses. I think the colour just pops in the images and the variety of dress-styles is interesting too.
Marita and Khai’s reception was truly unique and really represented their personal style. I loved the deep colours and interesting decor. Emma and her team from Events by Emma did a fabulous job as always.
Marita and Khai, thanks for allowing me the opportunity to shoot your stunning wedding. I really enjoyed it and I hope you guys love the images!
