On Saturday I headed out to Morden/Winkler for Heather and Mike’s wedding. I was really excited about the opportunity to capture their wedding day and also because it meant brand new locations to photograph. Don’t get me wrong, I love shooting here in the city, but it’s always nice to get a change of scenery.
Heather and Mike were wonderful to work with and the day just flew by. They decided to see each other before the ceremony so we could do all the photography before-hand. I love having this time with the couple. Their first wedding day moment together was beautiful: Mike waited in the backyard, excited to see Heather for the first time, and Heather walked out while all of her family looked on. I feel these first two images below capture the moment beautifully.
They wanted to be alone for the first two hours so the wedding party joined us later in the day. We headed off to a few locations that I had scouted out before-hand. One of the unique places to Winkler is the 50’s-style diner where they grabbed a booth and shared a milkshake or two :) Then it was off to old, historic Morden with the couple and wedding party. We got some really great shots at the elementary school and by an old run-down hotel!
In the late afternoon we took off to the ceremony, which was held at the beautiful Minnewasta Golf & Country Club. With rain threatening all day, Heather made a gutsy call to keep the ceremony outdoors overlooking the golf course, which was a great choice. It looked spectacular! There was a little rain just before the ceremony, but it cleared up and they were married in no time! The last image I thought was a really neat moment; it’s of Mike’s parents as they watch their son watch his bride come up the aisle. They obviously still have that little sparkle in their eye for each other!
Meagan and I had an amazing time and were thrilled to be apart of their big day!
Thanks again Heather & Mike,
