On Saturday I photographed my first wedding of the season which is always exciting, but it was also exciting because Nicole and Tim are friends of ours. We were so glad to be able to be part of their special day in this way. They are young but so ready for this and we’re very happy for them!
When Nicki and Tim chose their wedding date they knew weather might end up being a major factor, however after the April we just had I think we were all getting used to being spoiled and we expected a sunshiny day. Well, leading up to Saturday the weather definitely changed and we wondered what the wedding day might end up bringing. In the end, there wasn’t really any sunshine, but there wasn’t really any rain either. No matter what, we knew they would end up with great images!
Nicki really appreciates outdoor, rural kinds of images so we managed to head out to a favourite spot of mine before the ceremony. The girls had great attitudes about getting a little bit dirty (it had poured the night before) and I think the shots we got were worth it.
Assiniboine Park is a special place to the couple so they decided they wanted to have most of their photos done there. I’m not really used to photographing in the park… it brings back memories of staged and posed shots in front of flower beds, but I headed out there on Friday and found some quiet locations that were a little different to the normal images captured in that area. I was pleased with the results and I think Nicki really appreciated the casual and natural feel of the shoot in the long grasses and trees. We ended up at the Legislature for some family shots and the sun peeked through to give a bright ending to the day.
Something that both Meagan and I noticed about Nicole and Tim’s reception is that it reflected their personalities so well. It was beautiful yet relaxed and their guests had the opportunity to get to know them better throughout the evening.
You guys are a wonderful couple, Nicole and Tim! Thank-you for trusting me with capturing your special day. Meagan and I had a lot of fun and we really loved seeing you guys together as a married couple at last!
