It has been the summer of engagement shoots around Lake of the Woods. I can’t say it has been a hardship… It is so beautiful out there! :)
Catherine and Matt were referred to me by one of my brides and fellow vendors; it’s such an honour when somebody you work with completely trusts you to photograph their friends or family.
I connected with Catherine instantly when she came by for the initial consultation but unfortunately Matt wasn’t able to make it so I was looking forward to meeting him at the engagement session. Matt was very friendly right from the start and it’s so easy to see why they are a perfect match for each other. They were warm and welcoming as we did their engagement session out at Catherine’s family’s cottage close to Kenora.
The weather did not initially appear to be in our favour, but the cloud cover provided perfect light for their session and I think the wind added something unique to shots down by the water. With the cabin only steps from the waterfront, I knew immediately that we had do some shots on the dock. They totally relaxed within minutes and I loved the images of the two of them sharing one of the deck chairs. :)
Afterward we captured a few shots of them on the rocks and then headed up to the road. The dog was anxiously waiting for his turn to get into the action so we set out for a short walk. Coming back to the cabin there was this perfect little path that was an excellent backdrop for them to tuck into.
With the session all but done there was only one thing left to do… :) Loved these shots of them jumping off the dock!
Catherine and Matt, thanks for inviting me up to your cabin. It was a real pleasure capturing you two up there!
